You can have a mini European getaway without hopping on a plane. This charming small town is a road trip from Toronto and will make you feel like you've jetted off to Switzerland.

Nestled in Pennsylvania's Pocono Mountains, the slope-side town offers "the charms of a European village and the thrills of a mountain sports destination," according to the Pocono Mountains website.

You can wander along old-world streets, gaze at Victorian mansions and more while visiting this gem. The town is about a six and a half hour drive from Toronto, or a five hour drive from Kingston, making it close enough for a long weekend getaway or multi-day vacation.

Jim Thorpe, named after the American athlete and gold metalist, is "the second most popular tourist destination" in the U.S. and is a magical place for a vacay.

The village has been dubbed the "Switzerland of America" due to its mountainous scenery and European vibes.

There's lots to do in the area, such as exploring the downtown shops and restaurants, visiting the many museums and hiking some stunning trails.

One of the highlights of the village is the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway. According to the website, the historic train takes you through "the majestic Lehigh River over bridges, through Glen Onoko, and into the Lehigh Gorge State Park" and you'll feel like you're on board the Hogwarts Express.

If you're looking for a little taste of Switzerland without a plane ticket, it might be worth packing your bags and planning a road trip to his enchanting small town located just across the border.
