Talk about feeling like a fish out of water. Three Ontarians were caught in a pretty terrifying situation after hopping onboard an inflatable toy boat on June 23 and drifting away. York Regional Police's Marina Unit managed to carry out the Lake Simcoe rescue and retrieve the stranded voyageurs several kilometres away from where they started.

According to a release by the YRP issued on Thursday, June 25, shortly after 6 p.m. on Tuesday, the Marine Unit responded to the emergency call from the trio.

The three people had apparently taken a small inflatable boat onto Lake Simcoe and ended up being blown away due to the strong winds.

The officers managed to find them about 3.5 kilometres away from the shore, near Jackson's Point. So they'd floated pretty far.

According to the YRP, the group had tried to paddle back to shore but ended up totally exhausted. Other than that, nobody was harmed.

Even so, though, YRP made sure to remind the public that these toys are not meant to be used in big bodies of water. Seriously, don't do it.

"Officers with the Marine Unit would like to remind our citizens that inflatable boats purchased from large box stores are toys meant for small bodies of water, they are not conducive to the environmental factors produced by Lake Simcoe," reads part of the YRP statement.

At least this trio didn't stay lost at sea, though. Or on an island.

Also this week, one poor Ontario woman was ditched by her friend after an apparent argument and ended up stranded on an island overnight.

It took police 10 hours to find her due to the lack of cellphone service.

No, thank you.

There was also another similar lake rescue mission recently in Ontario.

Another group recently had trouble on Lake Erie after their boat flipped.

They were saved by the efforts of three Ontario teens who were out fishing, heard the calls of a woman in distress, and managed to contact the Ontario Provincial Police.

As for the YRP, they have been pretty busy recently with reports of mutilated cats found in a park in the city of Vaughan, even having them warn residents to keep an eye on their furry friends.

They're also in the middle of investigating the Pierre Trudeau statue, located in Pierre Elliott Trudeau Park in Vaughan after it was vandalized with blackface.

Never a quiet day.
