'Canada's Drag Race' Pit Crew Member Says His Weirdest Time On The Show Was Full Of Oil

He also told Narcity about other weird and memorable moments from the show!

Creator

Canada's Drag Race is full of memorable moments served by drag queens ready to "sissy that walk" in the words of RuPaul, but what goes on behind the scenes?

While everyone knows the role of a drag queen on the show, to serve looks and aim to be the best queen for a $100,000 grand prize, pit crew members who act as helping hands on the show may not be as widely known.

Seth Falk, a pit crew member from season one, model, and animal wrangler gave Narcity the inside scoop on some of his most memorable and weirdest moments from the show on and off camera.

What is the weirdest part of your job as a pit crew member?

Pit crew members are often seen in their underwear on the show, and according to Falk, a little oil goes a long way when it comes to looking your best on-screen.

"I definitely think the weirdest part, which would also be one of the best parts, was when we had to coconut oil each other up, so we were nice and shiny before we went out," said Falk.

"However, the temperature in the unit happened to be too cold for the coconut oil to melt."

"So it was hilarious having us holding coconut oil balls, and it was squirting everywhere and getting all over us, and we were just kind of meeting, you know, getting to know each other, and it was so funny."

"If there was a camera filming this insanity of the coconut oil, we were slipping on the coconut oil, and it was hardening. I mean, I just still talk about the coconut oil. It's just so funny to me."

"I think that was one of my funniest slash-crazy moments, which is very family-friendly. I think that for me was my favourite."

Falk says working and "sharing space" with Stacey McKenzie, model and judge on Canada's Drag Race, was also a "crazy moment" for him.

"I grew up watching Top Model, Fith Element, all that stuff, so that was really surreal, out of body," he said. "You know she's there. She's so distinctive."

Falk says the icon even gave him some life advice on set while they worked together.

"That was a crazy moment for me, from going from kids' birthday parties every day for 15 years to being on the set of a TV show that I watch. That I'm a super fan of."

What was your favourite mini-challenge you've been a part of?

Pit crew members are often involved in mini-challenges on the show, from acting as stand-in props to general eye candy during the outlandish challenges, and Falk shared his favourites.

"I think my favourite mini-challenge was when the Queens used us to help them film their mini commercials, and that's when Jimbo, the drag clown Jimbo, screams, 'It's my special day!' and just being there for that moment was so crazy."

"It was so funny and we're props, we're trying to keep it serious. I think on the show, they gave them like half an hour to film all these different things."

"So they're like so crazy and just seeing those iconic moments and then seeing it come to TV and become a meme that's being used across the world, and T-shirts and necklaces with it on."

"On my birthday Jimbo sent me a birthday message like that, so it's iconic in our household as well. We're always shouting that, so that was really fun."

"However, I also have to mention the reading challenge. I stood there holding the glasses for the reading challenge. So I was there for every queen's joke that they had to read to the other contestants, and that was really funny, and my instructions were to not laugh, which is really hard when you're seeing people come with such funny material and stand like static. I mean, what a great day."

"What a moment, what a moment! Stand still while these hilarious queens read each other in your underwear. Yeah, in your underwear."
