Police were forced to lay charges after a huge dance party took place at Cherry Beach over the weekend.

On Saturday, May 15, several unmasked people gathered at the beach and apparently did not follow social distancing rules.

In an emailed statement to Narcity, Toronto Police say they responded to a gathering at Cherry Beach, and once they arrived discovered a large group of people having a party.

A video of the event, which was posted on YouTube, shows mass crowds dancing with rave lights and loud music. It is being called a "Freedom Rally After-Party" which reportedly is in connection with the anti-lockdown protests.

TPS was able to clear out the crowd, and three event-goers were charged under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act.

Ontario currently has a stay-at-home order put in place until June 2, which means nobody should be leaving their homes unless it is for something essential like grabbing groceries or heading to a healthcare-related appointment.
