Ontario Man Gets Over A Dozen Charges After Driving The Wrong Way Down The 401

An Ontario man is facing numerous charges after being caught driving in the opposite direction on Highway 401.

According to the OPP, an off-duty officer observed a vehicle travelling the wrong way on an off-ramp near Camden East at around 6:15 a.m. on Sunday.

The officer attempted to stop the vehicle. However, it evaded him and continued onto the highway. Ontario Provincial Police 

It was reported that the officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but it ended up making it onto the highway. 

Eventually, the driver left the roadway and crashed into a fence on the south side of the 401.

It was reported that the man had fled on foot and broke into a nearby home on Sharpe Road.

"An All-Terrain Vehicle, a side by side as well as approximately $7000 in cash and clothing was stolen," police added.

The individual was later stopped at a traffic stop near Vent Road while driving the side by side at around 7:30 a.m. 

The driver then fled again but was arrested shortly after.

He is facing over a dozen of charges including "theft of motor vehicle," "theft over $5000," and "drive wrong way on highway."
