While the government demands sacrifice from everyday Ontarians, Rod Phillips chose to ignore public health advice, jet off to St. Barts, and create an elaborate cover-up on social media. Andrea Howarth, NDP Leader

Phillips became the centre of a provincial controversy after leaving Canada during Christmas break to vacation in the Caribbean.

Members of the NDP released a statement on December 30, accusing Ford of giving his MPPs special privileges.

"Doug Ford cannot keep one set of rules for Ontarians, and another set for his MPPs," the petition states.

Ontarians are being asked to add their names to a list that calls for Ford to fire Phillips and hold his MPPs accountable.

Andrea Horwath, Leader of Ontario’s Official Opposition, also stated in a tweet that, "Ford must remove him from cabinet."

While there has been no word on the firing of Phillips, Ford did publicly state that he, "let the minister know that his decision to travel is completely unacceptable and that it will not be tolerated again."
