On January 9, the province-wide shutdown is set to lift in northern Ontario, which would allow some Ontario ski hills to reopen.

However, not all Ontario residents will be able to hit the slopes. Some ski hills, including Boogie Mountian and the Laurentian Ski Hill, will require visitors to present proof that they reside in the north.

[We] will only be accepting patrons from the North Bay Parry Sound district and districts north of Sudbury/North Bay, when we re-open. Laurentian Ski Hill

Boogie Hill will only be inviting visitors from Sudbury, Lively, Nairn, Webbwood, McKerrow, Espanola, Massey, and Manitoulin.

“Our number one priority is the wellbeing of our staff and clients. We are not infringing on your rights," wrote Boogie Mountain in a statement.

"This is the way it has to be, once we are allowed to open, for us to stay open. It is non negotiable."

Both ski hills will require ID as a form of proof.

Boogie Hill also stated that anyone who does not comply with face masks or social distancing can be banned from the premises without a refund.

This decision is based on the province's advice to refrain from travelling in between public health units, especially from areas with higher transmission of COVID-19.
