Season three of The Umbrella Academy hits Netflix Canada on June 22, and you'll finally be reunited with the Hargreeves family and their superhero powers. The upcoming season has no shortage of action, twists, and surprises as the siblings attempt to save the world yet again.

Much of the series was actually shot around Ontario, and Narcity chatted with the cast to see what locations made the biggest impression. Here's what they had to say about their favourite filming spots.

Hamilton

For Justin H. Min, who plays Ben Hargreeves, one Ontario city stands out from the other filming locations.

"I mean, there's a soft spot in my heart for Hamilton because we filmed a lot of season 2 there, and we filmed bits and pieces from season 3 there as well," he tells Narcity.

"We actually didn't film that much on location this season because of the pandemic so they wanted to keep it as contained as possible. But the few times we got to go to Hamilton — it's a very special town because it's so small. Everyone knows when we're filming The Umbrella Academy and basically the entire town comes out and watches us film and it's always been so supportive and great."

Parkwood Estate

Robert Sheehan certainly made an impression with his portrayal of the eccentric and loveable Klaus Hargreeves, and this Ontario spot certainly made an impression on him.

"We filmed a bunch in this beautiful mansion house which is on the edge of the town of Oshawa," says Sheehan, referring to Parkwood Estate. "It was built by a guy called [Robert] McLaughlin, [...] he built this quite ridiculous mansion, but it's quite beautiful too. And [...] it's now a public place, [...] he basically handed it off to the city, and lots of things get shot there. And it is quite spectacular."

Griddy's Doughnuts

If you think back to the first season of The Umbrella Academy, you'll likely remember the donut shop run by a woman named Agnes. The shop was actually shot at a cafe in Toronto, and for David Castañeda, who plays Diego Hargreeves, this was his favourite Ontario filming location, for a very good reason.

"I would say Griddy's, the donut shop, that's not there anymore. There's a condo there now," he explains. "Like Griddy's to me, season 1, it was so cool. I mean, you get in there and you get to eat as many donuts as you want."

"And the set people are getting mad at you because they're like, 'you shouldn't be eating those donuts,'" he laughs. "'They've been there for a week.'"

Toronto

"Toronto!" Ritu Arya, who plays Lila, says. "We shoot in Toronto, and I love Toronto. I love it as a city, and I've had such amazing times there."

Sudbury

"I really enjoyed shooting up in Sudbury because there's amazing hikes and stuff around there," Tom Hopper, who plays Luther Hargreeves tells Narcity. "So I've shot there a couple of times, which was beautiful, I really liked it. The town itself hasn't got so much going on. But in terms of the hikes and stuff it was great."
