The Oddest Places To Get Vaccinated Include Dracula's Castle & A Nuclear Aircraft Carrier

Taking vaccine FOMO to the next level.

Staff Writer

With vaccination rollouts happening all across the globe, there were always bound to be some odd and unique vaccination sites out there. But some sites are a little bit more interesting than others, and, as it turns out, some of them are just downright bizarre.

Here is a selection of some of the most interesting places across the whole world where you could potentially take a vaccine selfie!

An Italian Modern Art Museum

"Art heals," according to the Castello di Rivoli Museo d'Arte Contemporanea in Turin, Italy. The modern art museum started its vaccination centre back on April 29, and visitors could receive their dose inside the Claudia Comte exhibit.

Canada's Wonderland

Canada's Wonderland isn't open for its normal activities, but you can still (sort of) scratch your theme park itch if you're eligible to be vaccinated in York Region. The drive-through site on the park's grounds has been administering vaccine doses since March 29, providing a truly scenic backdrop for anybody passing through for their shot.

Dracula's Castle

They used to want your blood, but now they just want your arm. Romania's Bran Castle — famously known and advertised as the castle that inspired Bram Stoker's Dracula — is running a vaccination clinic throughout the month of May to encourage Romanians to get their doses.

A Nuclear Aircraft Carrier

The U.S. Navy might have everyone beat for the biggest vaccination clinic with the USS Carl Vinson, a Nimitz-class nuclear aircraft carrier. The Navy set up a clinic on February 19 inside of the ship's hangar bay while docked in California, administering nearly 3,000 doses on the day. Good thing there's likely lots of room to line up on a 1,000-foot-long aircraft carrier.

An MLB Stadium

The Toronto Blue Jays — exiled from Canada due to border restrictions — are playing some home games in Buffalo, New York, at Sahlen Field. And to ramp up the FOMO for Canadian Blue Jays fans, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that fans could receive a vaccine dose at Blue Jays games starting on June 1. A hot dog, a beer and a vaccine — baseball is truly America's pastime.

The Toronto Zoo

The Scarborough Health Network is setting up a one-day vaccination clinic at the Toronto Zoo, but only for humans who live in hot-spot communities in Scarborough. Health officials will have 3,000 Pfizer doses to give out to eligible Torontonians — unfortunately, the new tiger cubs don't qualify.

An 800-Year-Old English Cathedral

In a truly remarkable meeting of religion and science, England's magnificent Salisbury Cathedral was turned into a vaccination site in January 2021. According to the BBC, attendees were even treated to organ music while they waited to receive a dose of a vaccine. If that doesn't sound miraculous, what does?
