Beach days are incoming, and while Vancouver has its fair share of sandy shorelines in the city, nothing beats small-town vibes on a hot summer day.

This picturesque beach town has all the makings of the perfect summer's day. A long pier stretching out into the sparkling ocean, ice cream shops near the shore, and restaurants overlooking the water. It's what makes this place a favourite for many – plus, it's just about an hour's drive from Vancouver.

The Narcity Canada Facebook page asked readers what the best beach towns in the province are, and White Rock came up time and time again. People love this place, and it's not hard to see why.

Technically, White Rock is a city, but it has the vibes of a small beach town. It's famous for its pier, which is actually the largest in Canada and a landmark of the town.

The pier gives the waterfront a classic coastal vibe, and in the summer, you'll find the shore full of beachgoers enjoying the warmer weather.

White Rock has eight kilometres of beach, so you can wander around and find the perfect place to set up for a hot day. The beach is divided into "East Beach" and "West Beach," with East Beach being the quieter, more low-key option.

Restaurants, cafes, and shops line the waterfront, adding to this spot's lively atmosphere. Nothing beats grabbing an ice cream from Maya's (or one of the many other ice cream shops) and walking along the waterfront.

At sunset, you can walk out onto the pier and watch as the sky fills with colour — the perfect ending to a summer's day.

If you want a fun afternoon away from Vancouver, the beachy vibes await you here.
