Vancouver is known for its beauty, mountains, and ocean, but also it can be straight-up lonely. Someone that moved to the city took to the Vancouver Reddit page to de-bunk the common stereotype that it's hard to make friends but it started a heated debate.

People who moved from Ontario to Vancouver and some that had moved internationally all came out to talk about how friendly, or unfriendly, the city actually is.

The Reddit user who made the post said they have been in the city for just over a month and "came with the fear of reading articles about how hard it is to make friends, especially when you’re a bit older."

To their delight though, they now believe it's "a misunderstood myth," after meeting some people in the city already.

It's Reddit though, so of course, people came in hot with their own takes on the matter.

Some were in total agreement that it's actually a good place to meet people.

But others were not having it.

Not being able to make friends seemed to be a common experience.

A classic comparison is Toronto and Vancouver, but apparently, the West Coast city doesn't stand up to a few different places in Canada when it comes to friendliness.

It seemed to be a pretty even split though.

One person said it might just be the whole West Coast vibe.

But as a whole, Canadians do have that reputation of politeness to keep up.

People who were raised in the city were speaking up too about their experiences.

Like most things though, the truth probably lies somewhere in the middle so don't believe everything you hear about Vancouver.
