An Edmonton Man Went On A Wild Crime Spree In BC That Included Stealing & Assault

It all started when he refused to pay his bill.

An Edmonton man was arrested after going on a wild B.C. crime spree while in Victoria. During this spree, he allegedly stole, assaulted, and broke into a hotel. He was eventually caught but not before trying to run away. 

According to a press release from the Victoria Police, an unidentified Edmonton man is facing the recommended charges after "an alleged spree that included a theft, assault and a break and enter.

On Wednesday, July 16, the police were called to a restaurant on the 1100 block of Douglas Street in Victoria just after 10 p.m. 

The call was regarding theft and assault

Staff at the restaurant reported to Victoria Police that the man had dined at the restaurant and left after refusing to pay his bill. 

Police have not disclosed how much his bill added up to. 

The man did return after a short time which is when a staff member threatened to call the police if the bill wasn't paid. 

When the staff member took out his cellphone, the Edmonton stranger allegedly assaulted the staff member and fled the scene. 

No injuries were reported following the assault but patrol officers began to search for the suspect. 

While they were out searching, a K9 officer responded to a call for a break and enter at a hotel on the 1200 block of Wharf Street. 

According to police, the caller reported that a man had thrown an object through a front window and was now inside the lobby area. 

When the K9 officer arrived they spotted the suspect trying to gain access to the hotel’s office area. 

The suspect saw the officer and attempted to flee on foot. 

He was eventually apprehended after a brief foot chase and was taken into custody without any further incident. 

While in custody, it was determined that he was linked to the earlier restaurant assault. The suspect was held in a cell and later released on conditions.

It's unclear if the man ended up paying his restaurant bill.
