That's a lot of cleaning-time! 🤯✈️

While there are fewer WestJet flights landing and taking off in Canada right now, that apparently doesn’t mean there’s less cleaning to do!

In a new tweet, the Canadian airline revealed how many hours WestJet staff have spent cleaning during the COVID-19 pandemic and it’s well into the thousands.

In total, the company says over 17,000 hours have been spent cleaning and sanitizing on board.

That’s the equivalent of around 708 days — or just under two years!

This hefty figure comes despite a huge reduction in services over the last ten months as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect airlines and the travel industry.

The airline recently announced even more cuts to its schedule last week, following an update to Canada’s international travel rules.

The suspension and cancellation of services from airlines like Air Canada and WestJet caused one Nova Scotia airport to become the loneliest in Canada — with absolutely no incoming or outgoing passenger flights at all.

While passenger journeys have pretty much come to a grinding halt in some spots, cargo planes continue to operate all over the country.
