If you were hoping to take a sunny vacation in the near future, you may have to take a rain check! WestJet sun destination flights will continue to be suspended until at least June 4, including flights to Mexico and the Carribean.

In an announcement on April 13, the airline confirmed that its temporary suspension of select international flights would be extended further.

The company says passengers with affected tickets will be notified of any cancellations and will be refunded “regardless of fare class booked where WestJet initiated the cancellation.”

Following instructions from the federal government in January 2021, Canadian airlines suspended all flights to sun destinations until April 30 at the earliest.

Both the government and the prime minister continue to urge Canadians to avoid discretionary travel abroad and to cancel any upcoming vacations.
