You can apply until January 31, 2021!
Contributor

Anyone who is looking for a career in an essential government field is in luck. There are currently Agriculture & Agri-Food Canada jobs available across the country. All you need to apply is a high school diploma.

On top of getting an inside look at how the government's agricultural agency works on a day-to-day basis, you can also expect a solid salary of anywhere from $47,729 to $61,877.

There are also other perks like paid vacation, health benefits, and a great pension plan.

What are the jobs?

By putting your application in with AAFC, you are actually not applying to any specific job. You're being added to a pool of candidates who will be considered for numerous positions across Canada.

These may include administrative assistant, information officer, and human resource coordinator.

You might not get a job right away, but you may be considered when there are openings in the future.

These jobs are available in every province, so no matter where you live, you can apply.

What are the requirements?

The only educational requirement for any of these administrative positions is a high school diploma. However, those with an acceptable level of education and combined experience may also be considered.

Applicants should also have a familiarity with word processing and spreadsheet software, as well as experience providing client service.

You should have good attention to detail and be able to communicate effectively in writing.

Beyond that, you'll need to be able to work well with others, think things through, and show initiative. Some positions may also have language requirements that will be assessed later.

Are other government jobs available?

If working in the field of agriculture isn't something you're interested in, but you'd still like a job with the government, there are plenty of other opportunities available.

For example, the Canada Revenue Agency is currently hiring people for entry-level positions at its Sudbury tax centre. These positions can pay up to $47,000.

There are also clerk jobs available with Statistics Canada, and you don't need to have any prior experience.

For those who want something other than an average desk job, CSIS also has entry-level positions right now as fleet assistants and surveillance officers.
