Is there anything more iconic than the rocky mountains? The best places to camp in Canada's national parks were just revealed and the top spot should be on everyone's bucket list!

New research by Must Do Canada considered which of the country's national parks are best for an extraordinary night under canvas. They completed a "detailed analysis of factors" including the number of designated campgrounds, the amount of official hiking routes and the park's popularity.

The ranking also took factors like dark sky preserves, annual rainfall and size into consideration, too.

Coming out on top (perhaps unsurprisingly) is Jasper National Park in Alberta. This iconic Canadian landmark took first place for camping thanks to its size, the massive amount of designated hiking routes and its potential for stargazing.

It's not the first time Jasper has beat out other incredible places, having recently been crowned Canada's best national park, in addition to apparently being one of the most peaceful places on Earth.

It was the incredible Banff National Park that came next, followed by Waterton Lakes National Park and Prince Albert National Park in third and fourth place respectively.

Here's a look at what the rest of the list looks like, too:

  1. Jasper National Park
  2. Banff National Park
  3. Waterton Lakes National Park
  4. Prince Albert National Park
  5. Yoho National Park
  6. Riding Mountain National Park
  7. Kootenay National Park
  8. Glacier National Park
  9. Bruce Peninsula National Park
  10. Wood Buffalo National Park
What a place to call home, eh?
