A dreamy Alberta village with quaint streets was named among the 'most beautiful' in Canada

Time to explore. 🌼

A lake with mountains. Right: A street in a town.

Waterton National Park. Right: Town of Waterton.

Towering mountains wrap around this town, alongside a scenic lake. Visiting is like stepping into a postcard, with breathtaking views everywhere you turn.

The dreamy little village of Waterton is tucked away in Waterton National Park — a place where the prairies meet the mountains. One look at this magical spot shows how it earned a spot on Culture Trip's list of the "20 Most Beautiful Towns and Villages in Canada."

It's not your typical town, but a gateway destination to see the beauty that lays within the park. The townsite is small but has everything you need, with charming streets, locals shops and tour offerings. It also manages to maintain a low-key feel, without the bustle of other tourist destinations.

The iconic Prince of Wales Hotel is near the village, a historic hotel perched above the lake with mountains as the backdrop.

Even if you don't stay there you can grab high tea at the hotel, and get unreal views while you sip.

The real draw is the park's natural beauty, though. Booming waterfalls, sprawling grasslands, canyon walls, and rocky mountains await you.

Red Rock Canyon road will give you a mix of views, and lead you to the canyon hike where you can get out of the car and explore.

Tons of trails wind throughout the park, but another great way to experience the outdoors here is out on the water. You can take a guided kayaking tour with Tamarack Outdoors.

Or, you can opt to explore on land with a horseback riding adventure, with Alpine Stables.

After a long day out in the park you can head into town for food, and get a treat from Big Scoop Ice Cream Parlor.

Spend the night in town or check out the camping sites around the park. Waterton is a Dark Sky Park, where you're far from the light pollution of cities. This means sleeping under the night sky is extra beautiful, since you can see it light up with stars.

A trip to Waterton is full of beauty, awe, and some adventure.
