Canada's 2024-2025 winter weather forecast is out and parts of Alberta are in for a wet and chilly season.

Old Farmer’s Almanac released its 2025 Canadian Edition and it forecasts that central provinces will be getting heavy snowfall and big feezes, while others are getting away easier.

While those in Ontario are in for the most snowfall it seems, Alberta won't be without its precipitation. Southern sections of Alberta should prepare for below-average temperatures throughout the winter season and some messy weather.

"The most southerly portions of Alberta and Saskatchewan will also be soaked this winter, with a few snowstorms interspersed with other types of precipitation," the long-range forecast said.

Buckle up because the forecast also said that "winter will be colder than normal throughout the Prairies. It will be coldest in early and late December, early and late January, and mid- and late February."

Let it snow because precipitation and snowfall will be above normal this year throughout the region. "Expect snow early, with heavy snowfall in mid-to-late November. It will be snowiest in early and late December, early January, mid-February, and early March."

While it might be an especially cold winter, Old Farmer’s Almanac says a "balmy" summer is ahead.

Canada as a whole is looking like a mixed bag in terms of winter weather. The Weather Network forecast said that "there is evidence that the upcoming season could be a hybrid event—not fully a central Pacific-based La Niña event, but not a true eastern Pacific La Niña event either. Therefore, we could see alternating periods that resemble both scenarios."

That means that while the winter might be overall warmer, similar to that of last year, TWN said that it does "not expect that Canada as a whole will rival last winter for the warmest winter on record."
