The southern Alberta weather forecast looks toasty, with some of the warmest weather of the year set to come through. While February has seen some chilly days so far, conditions are set to improve as the month wraps up.

The Weather Network (TWN) said that a rush of air from the Pacific Ocean will come over the Rockies on Thursday, rapidly warming up southern Alberta.

This warm-up, known as a chinook wind, could push temperatures into the mid-teens on Thursday. "Most temperature milestones achieved so far this year for warmth will be quickly beat out," TWN said.

Lethbridge is expected to reach 16°C — beating out its previous high of 12°C — while Medicine Hat is set to hit 14°C, also potentially setting a new high for the year.

Calgary, which recorded a high of 12.8°C on January 28, is forecasted to reach 12°C. TWN said that we'll "have to wait and see what the final reading will be" to see if the city surpasses that mark.

Along with the spring-like weather will come strong winds, though, with gusts of up to 100 km/h across the foothills expected. TWN warned that this could bring "travel troubles to any large trucks travelling across the region."

Soak up the nice weather because Alberta's spring 2025 forecast looks stormy and wet.
