Enjoy cross country skiing? Don’t want to leave Calgary?  No problem.   Foothills Nordic

Foothills Nordic Ski Club is a member of the Calgary Nordic Alliance "working to provide volunteer groomed cross-country ski trails at the following locations in Calgary," explains their website.

They detail several places where Calgarians can enjoy free skiing on groomed trails including:

  • Confederation Park Golf Course
  • Canmore Park
  • Lakeview Golf Course
  • Shaganappi Point Golf Course
  • Maple Ridge Golf Course
  • South Glenmore Park
  • Bowness Park
  • East Village Nordic Loop

"Foothills has made it a priority to groom the trails at Confederation Golf Course," Cynthia Mate told Narcity in an email.

"Most Wednesdays volunteer snow farmers shovel snow onto the trails."

While the Confederation Golf Course is free to use, donations are accepted.

So, grab your skis, borrow or rent, and prepare for a surprisingly fun pastime.

If you're sick of at-home workouts, this is sure to get you moving without having to look at a screen.
