Alberta COVID-19 Cases Are Skyrocketing & Justin Trudeau Just Promised To Help
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced at a public address on Monday, October 5, that federal help is being offered as cases of COVID-19 in Alberta continue to rise.
At the press conference, Trudeau announced that the Canadian Government has signed an agreement with Alberta to help its public health unit handle testing and contact tracing backlog.
Canada recently released a COVID-19 hotspot map that shows parts of Alberta as being some of the worst spots in all of the country. As of Monday, October 5, our province has recorded the highest case count since May 8.

Active COVID-19 cases in Alberta
As for the provincial address on Monday, October 5, Dr. Deena Hinshaw expressed concern over the rise in cases across Alberta, but particularly in Edmonton. The capital city has 982 of the total active cases in our province.
“We are taking this seriously and looking closely at what causes are driving this increase that we are seeing,” Hinshaw said.
Alberta's top doctor also confirmed that there are 149 schools are dealing with active alerts or outbreaks, which is about 6% of all schools in the province.
“These schools have 319 active cases. This includes 65 schools on outbreaks, including 10 on the watch list," said Hinshaw.
She added that in-school transmission has likely contributed to one or more cases in only 18 schools.
