Toronto police are planning to ramp up their presence in the downtown area during Joe Biden's inauguration on January 20.\nTPS Media Relations Officer Caroline de Kloet told Narcity in an emailed statement that they will have additional officers patrolling the city on Wednesday.\nEditor's Choice: Cineplex Is Offering Free Popcorn Today & You Can Get It Delivered\n\n\n\n“\n\n\nThe TPS will have uniformed police officers on patrol throughout the downtown area on Wednesday.\n\n\nCaroline de Kloet\n\n\n"The Toronto Police Service continuously monitors security issues not just in Toronto but also around the world."\n"In response, we make the appropriate adjustments to our plans in order to mitigate the potential risks to public safety."\nThis decision is in response to "the recent events in Washington D.C. and other areas of the United States," wrote TPS.\nAccording to de Kloet, there is no identified threat to Toronto residents. The increased security will be preventative.\nEarlier this month, two pro-Trump rallies took place in the city. The demonstrations were organized on Facebook by a group called Canadians For Trump.
