Several Alberta Safeways Are Getting Transformed Into FreshCo Discount Grocery Stores

Cheap groceries comin' right up!
Contributor

If you're a fan of discount grocery shopping, you may be excited to hear that six new FreshCo locations are coming to Alberta.

Sobeys Inc., which owns both FreshCo and Safeway, has announced that they will be transforming some local Safeway locations into discount grocery stores.

Editor's Choice: New Data Has Just Revealed That These 16 Canadian Cities Are 'Unaffordable'

The only grocery store with three money-saving guarantees.  FreshCo

The Safeway locations that will be converted into FreshCo discount stores around the province include:

  •  Millbourne Mall in Edmonton
  •  Coliseum in Edmonton
  •  Palisades Square in Edmonton
  •  Gateway Village Mall in St. Albert
  •  Brentwood in Calgary
  •  Saddle Ridge in Calgary

The "money-saving guarantees" that FreshCo promises include the lowest price guaranteed.

They say they will price-match any flyer you show them from another supermarket with a lower price.

They also promise to refund you and replace your product "if you're not completely satisfied."

Finally, they will give you a rain check coupon for 10% off if you can't find a product they've advertised during the current flyer week.

As for the Safeway locations, "Closures of the respective Safeway stores will start in the first quarter of fiscal 2022, and open as FreshCo stores starting at the end of the second quarter of fiscal 2022," says the press release.
