When did Jagmeet Singh and Gurkiran Kaur get engaged?

He proposed on January 16, 2018.

It happened at Vegetarian Haven in Toronto, the restaurant where they had their first date according to The Canadian Press via Toronto Star.

When the couple arrived, their friends and family who were there cheered for them.

Then Singh pulled out the engagement ring and got down on one knee to propose.

After she said yes, Kaur shouted "everyone, I'm engaged!"

They had been dating for about a year at the time of the proposal and have known each other since 2010 according to The Canadian Press.

Kaur was there when Singh became the leader of the NDP back in October 2017 and shared a photo of them to promote him announcing he would be vying for the job in May of that year.

What was their wedding like?

On February 12, 2019, Singh shared a throwback photo from a year earlier when he and Kaur kicked off their wedding with a celebration known as the "Sangeet."

A little more than a week after that event, the couple went down south for a destination wedding.

They got married in Mexico on February 22, 2018.

According to CBC News, they had a traditional Punjabi wedding ceremony and then spent the next couple of days in Mexico as part of their honeymoon.

After the nuptials, Singh and Kaur shared lots of photos from the festivities including ones of a celebration on the beach, them watching a performance, their formal dinner outfits and so much more.

What have they been up to in the years since?

It's been three years since the couple got engaged and then married.

In that time, a lot has happened.

Kaur joined her husband on the campaign trail during the 2019 federal election and it was revealed that she chooses what colour turban Singh wears.

They've also shown their love for each other with adorable Instagram photos and made us all jealous of their relationship.

The couple has also supported each other, shared their Halloween costumes and done TikTok videos together during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Kaur even swooned over Singh on one of his Instagram posts in February and called him "so handsome."

We'll have to wait and see what's in store next for the couple!
