Police have learned that two missing Ontario teens have been located in Calgary, Alberta.

OPP was contacted by the parents of the missing teens on January 12, who said they left their hometown of Tillsonburg to meet an unknown person they met online.

The parents of both individuals contacted police after realizing that their children had in fact left Ontario to meet this unknown person. OPP, Oxford County Detachment

"It was determined that two teenage friends from the Tillsonburg area had met at individual online when both decided to travel together to Calgary Alberta, on Monday, January 10, 2021," police stated.

OPP then worked with the Calgary Police Service to locate the teens.

On Wednesday, police said that they were in the midst of returning home to Ontario.

"The OPP is asking all parents and caregivers to sit down with their children and have a good conversation about online and offline safety and the dangers of meeting strangers online."

Ontario has seen several teens go missing in recent months.

The body of a 19-year-old woman from Ottawa was discovered in September after she'd been missing for several days.

In fact, police revealed back in May that 333 children were missing in the province at the time.

In 2020 alone, over 3,000 children had disappeared, however, the majority of them were found and reunited with their families.
