That brief cooldown is officially over in the 6ix. Environment Canada issued another Toronto heat warning on Thursday afternoon, July 16, warning of scorching hot temperatures and a serious risk to residents.

EC notes that, in particular, humidex values reaching 40 C are expected for each of the next four days, starting on Thursday afternoon. Friday will be even more humid and tropical than today.

Watch for the effects of heat illness: swelling, rash, cramps, fainting, heat exhaustion, heat stroke and the worsening of some health conditions.

That suffocating heat is expected to last through the whole weekend and right into Monday, if not beyond. Even temperatures overnight will sit at the low to mid-20s.

The Weather Network warns it will feel around 42 C on Sunday in the city. EC notes again that the air quality will also take a big hit due to the humidity and could even reach the high-risk category. It also advises eating cool, light meals.
