Minister of Health, Christine Elliott, states that 700 new cases were reported across the province.

700

new daily COVID-19 cases in Ontario

According to Elliott, 344 of these new cases are in Toronto, while 104 have been reported in Peel.

Over half of these new cases have been reported in younger adults.

"60% of today’s cases are in people under the age of 40," she reports.

The record-breaking increase was not without its warning signs.

Dr. Eileen de Villa, Toronto's Medical Officer of Health, warned last week that the sudden rise in COVID-19 numbers within the city should serve as a "warning" to everyone.

At least two different outbreaks occurred at Toronto bars last week, potentially exposing thousands of people to the disease.
