Summer is coming to a close, but there are still a few weeks left for some warm-weather adventures. This majestic Ontario island is a dreamy spot for a late-summer escape, and with its hidden white sand beach and coastal charm, it will have you feeling like you're in a far-off land.

Accessible by a short ferry trip, this hidden gem boasts quiet country charm, sparkling waters, and no travel fee.

Wolfe Island is a beautiful destination located at the entrance to the St. Lawrence River on Lake Ontario. It's the largest of the Thousand Islands and is located a 20-minute ferry ride from Kingston.

To reach this charming destination, you can hop aboard the Wolfe Islander III ferry from downtown Kingston, which offers free, year-round trips to the island.

The ferry even has space for over 50 cars so that you can travel by vehicle, bike, or on foot.

According to Destination Ontario, the best way to explore Wolfe Island is by bike, as many attractions are located in the town of Marysville, about 4.5 kilometres from the ferry dock.

Since the island has no taxis or public transit, bringing your car is also a convenient option.

Once you've reached the island, you can enjoy some of its beautiful shores and quaint shops. Marysville, the islands' main village, feels like a scene from a storybook and is home to cute general stores, bakeries and cafes.

If a beach day sounds like your cup of tea, there's still time to enjoy the island's Big Sandy Bay Beach. Located in Big Sandy Bay Conservation Area, the hidden white sand shoreline offers beautiful views and sparkling waters.

The beach is open until September, and it costs $20 for a day pass, cash only.

Other activities to enjoy on the island include sunset strolls, scenic bike routes, an art gallery and paddling experiences.

If you're planning a last-minute summer trip, this island makes for a dreamy, relaxing escape.
