February 14 in Ottawa was not filled with the love that the city deserves this year because of the protesters occupying the downtown core.

On Wednesday, Ottawa city councillors approved a motion to March 14 the Valentine's Day do-over date in the city.

On Wednesday afternoon, City Councillor Mathieu Fleury tweeted "A redo of #ValentinesDay in #Ottawa on March 14th 2022."

"Thanks to City Council in supporting coun. @KeithEgli & I's motion."

The motion states that Valentine's Day was not the same in Ottawa for both businesses and residents because of the "occupation."

Additionally, Valentine's Day is an opportunity for people to "gather with loved ones, enjoy winter activities, and support local businesses."

Users on Twitter have also been using "#Ottawalove" to share their thoughts and the things they love about the city.

The Ottawa Coalition of Business Improvement Areas commented on Fleury's tweet, "Book it! #ottawalove."

This Twitter user loves Ottawa's Valentine's Day redo. They tweeted, "I love this. Ottawa is getting a Valentines Day do-over because of the convoy! Maybe call it #ValentinesDeux?"

Another person tweeted, "Everyone: This year couldn't get worse. City of Ottawa: What about TWO Valentines Days?"

"Our heart-shaped city needs a little love," is one of the reasons Fleury gives in his motion for Valentine's Day take two.

A Twitter user commented on that statement, "My ♥️ just melted a little. Thanks @KeithEgli and @MathieuFleury."

Ottawa's Valentine's Day do-over seems to be bringing hope and joy to residents and businesses, which couldn't have come at a better time since the city is slowly opening up again and the Freedom Convoy is gradually leaving Ottawa behind.
