Students will no longer be able to wake up late on the day of a blizzard.

One school board announced the creation of a "Weather Impacted Distance Learning Day" which means that Ontario snow days will be coming to an end.

According to the Waterloo Region District School Board, when transportation is cancelled due to the weather, students will now have to learn online.

The board released a list of guidelines on November 16, 2020, instructing students what to do if buses are cancelled.

Parents and students will reportedly be informed by 6:00 a.m. if they will be learning from home on that day.

"All #WRDSB schools and sites will be closed, and students will access learning materials through their respective virtual classrooms," reads a tweet.

While snow days are a childhood staple, the move to switch to online classes instead comes as at-home learning becomes the new normal.

It is still unclear if other school boards will be following in Waterloo's footsteps.
