Have you ever visited one of Ontario’s small towns and felt like you were on the set of a holiday movie? Well, odds are it probably was at one point. 

Tons of those cheesy Christmas movies we all know and love have been filmed, at least in part, in Ontario.

Just this month, Chad Michael Murray was spotted filming a Hallmark movie in Bracebridge.

We’ve rounded up a list of six holiday movies that will have you feeling proud to call this province home. 

Between romantic skating on the Rideau Canal to picturesque diners and churches, it's no wonder our local cities and towns have made it onto the big screen.

Why You Need To Watch It: This cute Christmas flick is littered with quaint Georgetown charm. The Waffle Town where some of the characters work is actually the old Johnny Be Good Diner in Brantford. Other parts of this movie were filmed in Toronto and Millbrook.

Why You Need To Watch It: Niagara-On-The-Lake gets a chance to shine in this holiday movie. According to Niagara This Week, you can see the characters skating at Simcoe Park, sipping coffee at Balzac’s, and enjoying dinner at the gorgeous Prince of Wales Hotel.

Christmas Inheritance 

Rating: 5.7/10

Why You Need To Watch It: Yet another film with Niagara-On-The-Lake as its gorgeous backdrop. Much of the movie takes place in the town's Grand Victorian Bed & Breakfast.

A Cheerful Christmas

Rating: 5.1/10 IMDB

Why You Need To Watch It: Ontario's capital gets a close up during a romantic skating scene on the Rideau Canal. Filming also took place at shops and museums in Almonte, as well as at a Christmas tree farm in South Pakenham.

The Nights Before Christmas

Rating: 3.9/10 IMDB

Why You Need To Watch It: If you're from the town of Merrickville then you might have noticed the Merrickville United Arts Centre in this creepy Christmas horror movie. Residents were cast as extras for this film, so you might even see someone you know in the background.

Christmas Wedding Planner

Rating: 4.3/10 IMDB

Why You Need To Watch It: Bradford, Ontario has been the set of a few Christmas movies over the years. In Christmas Wedding Planner, you can spot the town's charming streets and buildings. Restaurant scenes from the movie were filmed in Newmarket at The Goulash House according to Bradford Today.
