Police Spot Hundreds Of Ontarians At Illegal Car Rally & It Looks Straight Out Of A Movie

Police caught the incident on video.

Ontario police were forced to disrupt an illegal car rally this month, and it looked like something Vin Diesel would attend.

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) reported that the incident occurred on February 12, 2022, near midnight after police received complaints regarding a "large vehicle gathering" at the intersection of Clements and Squires Beach roads in Pickering.

A helicopter unit spotted "several hundred" people and around 30 vehicles blocking the intersection, with drivers taking turns doing donuts in the middle of the roadway.

Several attendees could also be seen climbing street light posts to record the event.

"When members of West Division arrived, most participants dispersed from the area at high rates of speed," the report states.

"Officers did not initiate any pursuits out of concern for public safety. However, Air1 did spot numerous vehicles, including a white BMW fleeing on Highway 401 westbound at speeds in excess of 200km/hr."

The reports state that most vehicles' licence plates were removed or covered to avoid detection.

"Durham Regional Police would like to remind the public of the increased penalties for the existing stunt driving legislation, which now includes the same enforcement capabilities on private property that it does on a roadway," said Sergeant Stacey Benson in the report.

Police are also reminding motorists that stunt driving charges result in a 30-day licence suspension and 14 days of vehicle impoundment.

"If convicted, you will face a fine of between $2,000 - $10,000, possible jail time, six demerit points as well as a one-year licence suspension," Benson added.

Anyone with information about the ongoing investigation is asked to contact Constable Torcivia of the West Division Traffic Safety Unit at 1-888-579-1520, ext. 2844, or submit an anonymous tip at durhamregionalcrimestoppers.ca.
