A Poppy Donation Box Was Already Stolen In Toronto Before Remembrance Day

Toronto police revealed this week that a poppy donation box had been stolen from a local grocery store just before Remembrance Day. 

On November 3, 2020, it was reported that a man allegedly entered a store in the Yonge Street and Rowanwood Avenue area, according to a police release. 

It is reported that at around 7:30 a.m. he attempted to steal the donation box.

Staff quickly apprehended the man and called the police. All of the money in the box was recovered. 

Thirty-two-year-old Jermaine Vincent Archibald was arrested. 

He is facing charges including theft under $5000 and failure to comply with probation.

Anyone with more information on the case is being asked to call police at 416-808-5300.

Poppy box thefts were a big issue for Canada last year after several were stolen ahead of Remembrance Day.
