A Severe Thunderstorm Is About To Hit Southern Ontario With Damaging Winds & Hail

You might want to grab a raincoat if you are thinking about heading outside this afternoon. 

According to Environment Canada, a severe thunderstorm watch has just been issued for parts of southern Ontario.

The storm, which is forecasted to arrive later this afternoon, will bring strong winds and heavy rain.

Thunderstorms from Michigan will reach western portions of southern Ontario late this afternoon.

Thunderstorm watches have swept over large chunks of southern Ontario, including cities like London, Windsor, and Barrie.

Residents should prepare for wind gusts as high as 90 kilometres an hour and frequent lightning strikes.

Drivers will likely face poor visibility and ponding of water on roads due to expected torrential downpours

Residents are also being asked to take cover "immediately" if the storm turns threatening. 

Today will also mark the last of the summer-type weather, as the week heads into cooler temperatures.
