It's like stepping into a Hallmark movie.

This charming small coastal town in B.C. is an idyllic little community, with long stretches of sandy beach, clear blue water, and picturesque streets lined with local shops.

It was named among the best small towns in the country to live in, on the Narcity Facebook page — thanks to its beauty, quaint atmosphere and good vibes.

Walking around Comox, you'll feel the salty breeze from the ocean — the quintessential smell of a coastal town. It's set on the east coast of Vancouver Island, about three hours from the bustle of Victoria and a ferry ride away from the metropolitan streets of Vancouver.

It's small, but vibrant, especially in the summer months. Cute cafes and boutiques line the town's streets, along with restaurants and stores.

The town as a kilometre "trail" called "The Shopper's Stroll" which takes you from one end of Comox Avenue to the main-stay local shops around. The little stroll will bring you to cafes, bookstores, a surfing spot, clothing stores and gift shops.

Along the waterfront there's a marina, with boats bobbing in the calm water, and adding to the idyllic setting.

Beyond the downtown are beautiful beaches, with soft sand and clear water to dive into. Mountains are off in the distance, adding to the breathtaking scene. Air Force Beach is right outside of town, with stunning white sand and bright water.

Saratoga Beach is also a go-to here with soft sand, and it's about 30 minutes from Comox. There's camping sites nearby here, and even a resort on the beach if you want to make a trip extra special.

Anywhere on Vancouver Island also has the added appeal of exploring the island — which is home to some of the most spectacular nature found in Canada. Weekend trips from here are to ancient rainforests, world-famous beaches, and natural wonders.

Comox is a little gem surrounded by it all, with its own incredible beauty to offer, and a dreamy appeal that you'll be hard-pressed to find in other spots.
