This velvety stretch of sand set on an island in B.C. was just dubbed one of the top spots in the world. With turquoise waters and soft shores flanked by thick forest, it's no hard to see how it landed a place on the list.
“Corona Beach 100” is a curated list of the top beaches around the world, crafted by "beach experts," from oceanographers to surfers. Two Canadian beaches made it onto the list, and this B.C. gem was one of them.
Cox Bay Beach is set in the stunning town of Tofino, on the west Coast of Vancouver Island. The town might be small, but it's known on a global scale thanks to it's surfing, natural beauty, and unbelievable views.
Here you'll find lush rainforest hikes, kilometers of white sand, jagged coastlines, and rolling mountains. It's a place you never forget once you've gone, and keep wanting to go back to.
A big part of the summer intrigue here is the incredible beaches. Cox Bay is actually one of the smaller ones in the area, but that's relative as it's still 1.5-kilometres long.
The sand here is soft under your feet, and the view from the shoreline is wide open ocean. Surfing is popular here thanks to the impressive waves, but for a different adventure you can head up a trail to get an unbelievable lookout above the beach.
With the waves washing up on the picturesque sand and the mountain scenery — you'll quickly see why it's one of the best in the world.
