This small city in B.C. is brimming with charm, from its historic buildings along cobblestone streets, to lush gardens and waterfront walkways. It's a place that feels like a postcard come to life, and is a must-visit spot in the summer.

The Narcity audience was recently polled on the best places to visit in the summer, in Canada, and this B.C. destination stood out as a top spot to go. A trip here is full of beauty, good food, endless views, and lots of charm — so we can see why people named it among the best of the best.

Victoria is set on Vancouver Island, a ferry ride away from the province's main hub of Vancouver and a gateway to the endless beauty the island is known for.

While it has all of the city amenities you need, from award-winning restaurants to cute local shops, it manages to maintain a cozy feel.

You can spend a day here just wandering around the city, popping in and out of the little boutiques and taking in the picturesque storefronts. Lower Johnson Street is especially cute, with a row of colourful historic buildings.

Strolling along the waterfront is also a must here, breathing in the salty air. The Inner Harbour is beautiful, with boats bobbing and the parliament buildings and the stately Fairmont Empress hotel overlooking it.

You can walk all the way to Fisherman's Wharf, which is a little floating village with tours, shops, and homes.

Downtown has lots going on, but a trip isn't complete with a visit to the famous Butchart Gardens, which has 55 acres of manicured beauty to wander around.

If you're exploring the surrounding area you also have to stop by Hatley Castle, which will really make you feel like you're stepping into a fairytale.

If you want to keep that vibe going you can opt to stay at Abigail's Hotel, which was actually ranked as Canada's top hotel.

The longer you have the better, because Victoria also makes the perfect base for exploring the island. There's a lot to see on Vancouver Island, from hidden waterfall hikes to little beach towns and thick rainforests.

A summer trip here has a little bit of everything.
