Spring may be here, but the weather is looking like a return to winter this week in Alberta, with parts of the province set to get 20 cm of snow.

The weather forecast for the province says that Calgary will be getting some of the snowfall too, before warmer temperatures hit this weekend.

The Weather Network (TWN) said that in some parts of the foothills up to 20 cm of snow could fall to start off the new month. It's set to start later in the day on Tuesday and go into Wednesday, "bringing scattered snow from the north to the south," TWN said.

The "main event" should come later on Wednesday, "with upslope snow forecast to fill in along the foothills."

From Tuesday night to Thursday TWN expected up to 20 cm of snow to fall. Calgary might be getting "bursts of heavy snow" at times, bringing some more significant snow totals.

TWN warned drivers to prepare for changing conditions and to look at weather warnings in their area.

Luckily the snow could melt away fairly quickly, thanks to a temperature increase that's expected going into the weekend. It'll feel more like summer with highs close to 20°C in the south.
