Over 1 Million Canadians Have Applied For One Of Canada's Newest Recovery Benefits
That doesn't include the CERB!💰
A couple of months ago, threewere introduced to replace the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB). Already, over one million Canadians have applied for the new methods of support.
As part of the fall economic statement, put out by the federal government on November 30, there was information about the people have been using during the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.
As of that date, 1.5 million Canadians hadto receive one of the three new recovery benefits.
Canadians applied for the recovery benefits
The 1.5 million people either applied for the Canada Recovery Benefit, the Canada Recovery Sickness Benefit or the Canada Recovery Caregiving Benefit.
After the2 million people who claimed that benefit applied to the simplified EI system, but many weren't eligible.
Thewere created to help self-employed people, gig workers and those who can't work or have lost a significant part of their income due to COVID-19.
All of those benefits remain available until September 25, 2021.
Before the CERB was replaced, 27.57 million applications were recieved andreached $81.64 billion!
