A brand-new Costco is getting ready to open its doors in Ontario, and anticipation is definitely building.

The store has been set to launch before the end of summer, and now we have an official opening date.

Once open, this will be the 42nd Costco location in the province, adding even more convenience for members across the GTA.

The retail giant officially confirmed the upcoming launch of a new store in Newmarket on its website. It will open its doors for the first time on Wednesday, August 20.

Its address will be at 107 Harry Walker Parkway S., Newmarket, ON, just off the 404 Highway near Davis Drive — a prime spot for commuters and local shoppers alike.

The store will open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., and on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

This isn't your average warehouse either. At around 15,500 square metres, it'll rank among the largest Costco locations in Ontario.

As expected, the store will carry a wide range of products, including groceries, electronics, furniture, appliances, apparel, and seasonal goods. Shoppers can also look forward to a pharmacy, food court, self-checkouts, and a full-service gas station.

According to Costco, this location will also feature a bakery, a fresh produce section, a rotisserie chicken counter, a service deli, and a fresh meat department.

It will be the second Costco location in the Newmarket area, joining the East Gwillimbury warehouse just north of town. The closest stores are more than 30 minutes away in Richmond Hill, Markham, and Vaughan — so this one's expected to be busy from day one.

This also marks the second new Costco to open in Ontario in under a year. Back in November, Brantford welcomed its own new location, complete with 813 parking spaces, 24 gas pumps, and the province's first in-store sushi counter.

The new location is expected to draw large crowds on opening day, with eager shoppers ready to take full advantage of Costco's signature bulk deals and member benefits.
