Police Issue An Emergency Alert For A Homicide Suspect That's 'At Large' In Ontario

He's believed to be "armed and dangerous."

Ontario Provincial Police continue to search Carleton Place for an “armed and dangerous” suspect, wanted in connection with an incident at a Highway 7 motel. In an update, police confirmed the identity of the suspect, naming him as 30-year-old Shane Sabourin.

UPDATE: Police confirmed on Wednesday afternoon that Sabourin has been arrested without incident. There is no further risk to public safety.

EARLIER: On July 15, just after 11:35 a.m., OPP shared an Emergency Alert related to the search for Sabourin. 

The notice explained that the suspect remains "at large," and he's believed to be armed with a knife and dangerous.

While police originally described the incident as a “very serious assault,” the Emergency Alert stated that the suspect was wanted in connection with a homicide.

No further details are available at this time.

The suspect is described as a 30-year-old white male, around 5 feet 7 inches tall, and weighing approximately 199 pounds. He has black hair and blue eyes and is believed to be wearing a black long-sleeved shirt and pants.

He was last seen near Highway 7.

The public is asked not to approach the suspect. Instead, anyone with info should call 911 immediately.
