Drive-In Movies Are Coming To Ottawa This Week & You Can Even Watch 'Space Jam'

Things are going to get nostalgic!
Managing Editor, Canada

Movie night is back, Ottawa! Kicking off on June 24, a new “drive-in experience” is coming to the city. Showing nostalgic movies like Space Jam, Ice Age and Napoleon Dynamite, Ottawa’s new drive-in theatre should be added to your bucket list ASAP.

After the Ontario government announced that drive-in theatres would be allowed to reopen last month, demand for alfresco movie experiences has skyrocketed.

Thankfully, Wesley Clover Parks is ready to host the movie-lovers of Ottawa, and has created a “drive-in experience” to keep us all entertained.

Starting on Wednesday, June 24, the venue will open its doors to approximately 120 cars. They’ll be showing both new movies and cult-classics, which will be screened up to five times per week.

The experience is expected to run "throughout summer 2020," with comedy nights, concerts and and other events also scheduled to be announced at a later date.

The lineup for this week includes The Dark Knight, Space Jam, Napoleon Dynamite, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and Ice Age, running from June 24 to June 28 respectively.

The list of next week’s movies is expected to be released on Friday.

Admission costs $36.45, including service charges and taxes.

Tickets will be sold per vehicle, and vehicles can have a maximum occupancy of up to four people.

There will also be washroom facilities available on site, and you’ll even be able to order concession snacks via a mobile app!

Last week, Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group announced that the sports field at TD Place would be transformed into a drive-in movie theatre, starting on June 18.

The four-day schedule ended up selling out in just 90 minutes!

If you’re interested in an alfresco movie night, don’t leave it too late to book. Tickets can be purchased in advance here.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, movie-goers will not be permitted to bring lawn chairs, and you’ll be required to stay in your vehicle throughout the movie.

RVs and campers are not permitted.
