Canada's 2 Most Smile Cookie Obsessed Towns Ate Almost 10 Cookies Per Person In A Week

Is there anything better than baked goods for a good cause? Tim Hortons Smile Cookie week saw two sweet treat obsessed towns purchase almost 10 cookies per resident. One of those places has been the Smile Cookie capital of Canada for three years now!

Dunnville, Ontario

While we like to have a good laugh each year at the sometimes unusual looking Smile Cookies with huge eyes or crooked smiles, it's all for a good cause.

In Dunnville, Ontario, the town's Tims location set out to sell 50,000 cookies during the week-long campaign and they absolutely smashed that goal.

More than 60,000 were sold thanks to members of the community who came out to show their support by getting a treat.

With a population of around 6,000 people, that's about 10 cookies sold for every resident.

The money raised from the week will go to the Dunnville Hospital and Healthcare Foundation.

This is actually the third year in a row that the Dunnville Tims sold the most smiles in the country. So it's safe to say the town reigns supreme as the Smile Cookie capital of Canada.

Last year, just over 42,000 cookies were sold at the location and $42,864 was raised.

Rosetown, Saskatchewan

Rosetown, Saskatchewan is a newcomer to Smile Cookie fame and we're welcoming them with open arms!

The town that's southwest of Saskatoon wasn't on the list of the best selling locations last year but they really outdid themselves in 2020.

More than 21,000 chocolate chunk cookies with blue icing eyes and a pink icing smile were sold at the local Tims from September 14 to September 20.

With a population of about 2,300 people, that's just over nine smiles for each person in town.

All of the money raised in Rosetown will go to the Gasper Family Foundation.

More Best-Selling Locations

As a country, Canada is pretty Smile Cookie obsessed.

After Dunnville, the Tims location in Binbrook, Ontario sold the second-highest amount with over 35,000 purchased and all the money will go to Empowerment Squared.

Then in Peace River, Alberta, over 23,000 cookies were eaten and the restaurant owners will be donating the funds from them to Always Find a Reason to Smile.

Rosetown takes the fourth spot.

Lac-Megantic, Quebec rounds out the top five with more than 19,000 were sold and the money is going to Maison Cinquième Saison.

When you add up all the sweet treats handed out at those Tims locations, more than 158,000 Smile Cookies were purchased.

There are over 1,500 locations across Canada so the combined total of them all is way higher.

This year, $10.56 million was raised for local charities during Smile Cookie week which is record-breaking.

That far surpasses the 2019 record-breaking total of $9.8 million.
