During an announcement on Tuesday about how Ontario will officially be removing the requirement for licence plate stickers, Premier Doug Ford shared his thoughts about what he really thinks of the carbon tax.

"We see the cost of living going up, we see the gas prices going through the roof because of the carbon tax. You know, I predicted this carbon tax a long time ago, I said, 'the gas is going to go up, all the goods are going to go up, your groceries are going up,' and it kind of fell on deaf ears on certain parts of the country," Ford said during the question period of the February 22 press conference.

When asked about the upcoming provincial budget due at the end of March (especially with regards to the gas tax cut that the Ford government promised), Ford called on the prime minister to lower taxes for Canadians.

"He needs to cut the carbon tax, bottom line, because we cut, already, four-and-a-half cents off gas prices and the carbon tax came along and it went right back up," Ford said.

"Get rid of this carbon tax, it's a job-killing tax."

The premier also repeatedly stressed the importance of putting money back into Ontarians' pockets during the conference.

"When they fill up their tank, you know, this automatic increase of the carbon tax is going to kill us. I'll say it, I'll keep saying it, we got to get rid of this carbon tax. It's a terrible, terrible tax on the backs of the people of Ontario," Ford said.
