The incident occurred near Greenlane Road and Bartlett Street at approximately 4:15 p.m on Monday.

The young boy's sled reportedly darted onto a nearby road before he was hit by a passing pickup truck.

Responding officers initially discovered the child in critical condition, transferring him to the hospital.

However, despite the efforts from emergency and medical personnel, the boy later died from his injuries.

This isn't the first time in the past few months a youth has passed due to a traffic incident.

Back in December, a 12-year-old was struck and killed by a car while waiting for his school bus.
