Ontarians usually celebrate Hump Day because it's a step closer to Friday and far enough away from Monday to feel like you've accomplished something — until rising gas prices steal all your money, that is.

According to Gas Wizard, which is run by gas analyst and president of Canadians for Affordable Energy Dan McTeague, gas prices will rise 2 cents per litre on Wednesday for many parts of Ontario.

As a result, gas prices will cap off at around 170.9 cents per litre for most of the province.

The most affordable place for gas, according to Gas Wizard, will be Peterborough, one of the few places in the province that'll see prices drop on Wednesday, with totals expected to sit at 166.9 cents per litre.

The second cheapest will be Cornwall at 167.9, followed by Windsor, London, and Barrie at 169.9 cents per litre.

On the opposite end of the spectrum are Thunder Bay and Sudbury, which will see prices of 192.9 and 184.9 cents per litre on Wednesday, respectively.

On Monday, the Ontario government announced new legislation that would cut the gas tax by 5.7 cents per litre and the fuel tax by 5.3 cents per litre as of July 1, 2022.

The reduced gas tax rate would last until December 31, 2022, and is part of a plan to cut living costs for Ontario families and businesses.

If you're a regular driver, you may want to keep a close eye on gas prices for the foreseeable future to avoid filling up your tank on a spike day.
