The Ford government just announced that Ontario's personal support workers (PSWs) will continue to receive a temporary wage enhancement into the summer months.

The temporary raise, which took effect on October 1, 2020, has now been extended through to June 30, 2021.

The raise, which ranges between two to three dollars an hour, depending on the setting each PSW works within, is meant to "help stabilize, attract and retain the workforce needed to provide a high level of care, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic."

The raise will continue to be given to over 158,000 workers and will be reviewed again at the end of June.

"These frontline health care heroes are determined, caring and compassionate professionals and these wage enhancements are recognition of the extraordinary work they do each and every day," said Health Minister Christine Elliot.
