The Ontario government has just announced that personal support workers (PSWs) will continue to receive a temporary wage increase well into the summer.

In a press release, it was announced that the PSW temporary raise, which has been giving thousands of workers extra cash since October 2020, will be extended until August 23.

This means that over 150,000 workers will continue to see a $2-3 wage increase per hour depending on their role.

The increase in pay is meant to "stabilize, attract and retain the workforce needed to provide a high level of care during the COVID-19 pandemic."

Before this announcement, the temporary wage was set to expire on June 30, 2021.
