A barrage of thunderstorms ripped through parts of southern Ontario on Thursday causing widespread damage and power outages.

According to the Weather Network, an unholy combination of strong wind gusts, heavy downpours and large hail touched down in the GTA last night causing a whopping 1,500 Toronto Hydro customers to lose power.

In fact, the winds were so strong that several large trees were also uprooted, which made for some pretty shocking visuals on Friday morning.

Large hail could also apparently be spotted raining down in a neighbourhood across the province.

Some parts of Toronto were particularly devastated by the storm with one street left looking like it had been hit by a tornado.

No tree was safe In Etobicoke with both little plants and large ones being ripped down.

More thunderstorms are expected to roll through on Friday, with the most severe weather hitting the Windsor and Sarnia areas.
