The TTC Is Bracing For Toronto's Winter Storm & Here's What To Know About Your Commute
"Hazardous winter driving conditions" are expected.

Bundle up! A winter storm is expected to hit Toronto and other parts of Ontario today, bringing with it 5 to 10 centimetres of snow and "hazardous winter driving conditions," according to Environment Canada. The snow is expected to change to rain in the afternoon or early evening.
With weather advisories in effect, the TTC is preparing for some messy conditions, and here's what to know if you're commuting.
"With a forecasted mix of heavy snow, rain, and gusty winds, motorists are encouraged to leave their cars at home and take transit," the TTC said in a news release on January 8, 2024.
The transit commission will be deploying TTC employees and maintenance vehicles throughout the area, spreading salt, clearing snow and dealing with any weather-related issues that arise.
The TTC plans to monitor 56 bus stops in places where storms are known to impact service. It's recommended that travellers check if their bus stop is still in service before heading out by visiting the TTC's website for updates.
You can find QR codes located on signs at each of the 56 bus stops so you can check in real-time if the stop is operational.
Wheel-Trans will still be in service, but there may be delays and longer wait times. Riders who need to cancel their trip can do so without deducting "Life Happens" points.
In addition to these precautions, the TTC will be operating anti-icing trains to clear the power rail and tracks of snow and ice, spraying the streetcar overhead network as well as other areas with anti-icing and frequently updating customers on social media.
If you're heading out today, it's a good idea to check for updates or changes to public transit before you go.
